Impact is at the
heart of everything
we do
Capitalism is broken
The blind drive for wealth has led to collateral damage like the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and social inequality.
AENU's investment philosophy is based on the concept of climate capitalism, which seeks to address the environmental crisis by investing in commercially superior climate tech solutions, enabling profits to be made by aligning the interests of people and planet.
It's time for a system upgrade: Climate Capitalism
Climate capitalism is a transformed system that optimizes for environmental and social well-being alongside profit. We are an impact technology fund aligned with Article 9 SFDR. Our focus is on early stage climate tech companies based in Europe.
The Systemic Impact Framework (SIF)
SIF is our proprietary, science-based methodology for evaluating climate investments. Where most impact assessments stop at product-level outcomes, SIF maps how a solution transforms the broader system — infrastructure, incentives, user behavior, and market norms.
01
Impact Potential
Unit Impact
Every product carries a measurable climate footprint — but it only counts once the product sells. We quantify impact per unit through science-based modeling and tailored KPIs, tied to real commercial uptake and tracked against baselines, not assessed once.
Impact Scale
Most investors model climate impact in isolation. We model it against live commercial and market developments — Potential, Planned, and Realized — so the impact we project moves with the business that has to deliver it, not as a standalone forecast.
02
Impact Integrity
Founder Intentionality
The best climate companies don’t bolt impact on — they’re built on it. We back teams whose mission and business model are the same thing, not a CSR layer added after product-market fit.
Theory of Change
Impact has to be traceable. Every investment needs a credible, evidence-based line from product to climate outcome — no causal chain, no thesis.
Interlock
The strongest models make growth and impact inseparable. When the company wins, the climate wins — the two scale together by design, not by coincidence.
Additionality
“Better than nothing” isn’t the bar. We benchmark every solution against the best available alternative, because capital should flow to impact that wouldn’t otherwise happen.
The SIF is externally validated and B Corp-certified — a distinction held by fewer than 5% of VC impact frameworks globally.
AENU Platform
Hands-on impact know-how that turns climate ambition into operational reality. Net Zero playbooks, structured impact workshops, scientific advisory, regulatory intelligence, and access to non-dilutive financing such as sustainability-linked grants and debt.
Impact Measurement & Reporting
Science-based impact modeling with tailored KPIs and dynamic baselines. Lifecycle assessments (LCA), reporting systems aligned to the SIF, and ongoing measurement that translates frameworks into operational decisions — not a one-off audit.
ESG & Governance
ESG due diligence runs parallel to our impact assessment at every stage of the investment lifecycle. We evaluate environmental footprint, workforce diversity, governance structures, and disclosure practices.
